Luanda - Sonangol, through its Exploration and Production Unit, confirmed on Thursday the existence of oil in Block 11 of the Kwanza Onshore Basin, in almost the entire reservoir of the Tobias-14 well, at a depth of 960 meters.

According to a press release from the state oil company sent to ANGOP, this revelation increases the remaining potential of the Tobias field, and the production capacity of the well will be verified after tests that will be carried out soon.

The document states that the success of the drilling of the well, named Tobias-14, associated with the successful operation in the Tobias 13 well, drives Sonangol, as operator, and its partners, Apex, Brite's Oil, Grupo Simples and Omega, to reactivate production in the Kwanza Onshore Basin, scheduled for the end of this year.

This basin has been inactive since the 1990s, and the Exploration and Production Unit and its partners in the KON-11 Onshore Block have been responsible for the resumption of oil activity in this region.

The National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and Sonangol have the most significant stake in the Block-1 contractor group, with 30 percent, the companies Brite's Oil and Gas, 25 percent, Atlas (APEX), 20 percent, the Simples Oil group, 20 percent and Omega with five percent. OPF/AC/DOJ
