Luanda - More than two million new students will enter the education system this school year 2022/2023, which will start on September 5.
For the current school year, a total of 10 million students are expected to enroll in the general education system, which includes preschool, primary and secondary education.
Data from the Ministry of Education (MED) indicate that in the previous school year (2021-2022), approximately three million new students were enrolled.
Since 2017, Angola has built more than 650 new schools, as part of the implementation of the Integrated Programme of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
During the same period, 45,000 new teachers and 7,000 cleaners were hired.
The education sector currently has approximately 210,674 teachers.
