Luanda – The U.S. Embassy in Angola has made available applications for the 2023 Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) Program for Student Leaders on Civic Engagement, ANGOP has learnt from a note disclosed by the Embassy.

According to the note, SUSI programs are designed to provide undergraduate students with leadership skills, academic programs to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions through intensive academic programs at U.S. Universities and study tours throughout the country.

Sponsored by the Government of the United States of America, it will take place from January 10 to February 15, 2023, in the US, and will last for approximately five weeks.

The programme includes intensive courses, exchanges with local communities, cultural experiences, and community service.

Candidates must be highly motivated first through third year undergraduates aged 18-25 who demonstrate strong leadership through high academic achievement, community involvement, and extracurricular activities and have sufficient proficiency in English to allow them to participate in a university-level academic programme.

This requires a commitment to return to their home university upon completion of the program, to learn the civic culture in the US, willingness and ability to participate fully in the program, community service, and educational travel.

Priority will be given to applicants who have not benefited from a travel experience scholarship in the United States or elsewhere outside of Angola.

SUSI is a short-term academic program for groups of graduate leaders, educators, and thinkers from around the world.

It is hosted by academic institutions across the United States for a period of five to six weeks, includes intensive academic hosting and an integrated educational study tour.

The SUSI scholarship promotes a better understanding of the culture of the United States, its people and institutions among foreign students, teachers and scholars.
