Japan ready to train Angolan teaching staff

Luanda - The Japanese government Monday expressed interest in intensifying its relations with Angola, focusing on the education sector.

This intention was shown during a meeting between the Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, and the Japanese ambassador, Maruhashi Jiro, which served to assess the different areas of cooperation between the two countries, which has been going on for 45 years.

Maruhashi Jiro said that Japan intended to continue to be Angola's partner, both in the assistance to community projects, such as the construction of schools in rural areas and demining, and in the training of human resources in the area of education, mainly mathematics teachers.

In her turn, Education Minister, Luísa Grilo, thanked the Japanese government for its interest, reaffirming the government's focus on training teachers to use new technologies in science teaching.

The Angolan government official also said that Japan is a great power in the science teaching area, reason why it would also be important to benefit from the practical technological component, such as equipping the schools with laboratories, which would help a lot.
