Saurimo – Two new primary schools with 15 and 14 classrooms each were opened on Wednesday in Saurimo Lunda-Sul province.
The infrastructures budgeted at 800 million Kwanzas, were built during the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), and will serve 2610 students that have been studying in precarious conditions.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, who on the occasion highlighted the inclusion of more children in the education system, as it appears to be the main challenge for the local government.
He reaffirmed the local Government's commitment to building new schools, in order to improve teaching and learning conditions in the region.
Daniel Neto appealed to children for greater dedication to academic training, aiming to contribute to the development of the country, particularly Lunda-Sul.
He also reminded parents and guardians to daily advice children to not spoil the public goods, so that they can last longer.
Lunda-Sul currently has 1,930 classrooms available, where 290,25 students are enrolled in the current academic year, 2023/2024, and provided by 4,624 teachers. EM/JW/ART/CF/DOJ
