Mbanza Kongo - At least two schools with seven and 12 classrooms started being built on Tuesday in the municipal capital of Cuimba, 62 kilometres northwest of the city of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, as part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
Budgeted at over Kz 90 million and 149 million kwanzas, respectively, the construction work on these school projects will take five and eight months.
With the start of operation of these new schools, over 1,500 children of school age from the Tomboco and Boa Vista neighbourhoods, on the outskirts of the town of Cuimba, will for the first time have access to the teaching and learning process.
Parents and guardians stated on the occasion that with the construction of these school infrastructures in the locality, thousands of pupils will no longer have to travel long distances in search of knowledge.
António Nginamau considered the construction of these educational undertakings in the circumscription as an added value, and praised the initiative of the provincial government.
The deputy governor of Zaire for the political and social sector, Fernanda Guerra, asked the contractors to comply with the contractual clauses.
