Luanda - Angola and France signed Friday in Paris a five-year agreement in the field of Cultural Cooperation between the two countries.Signed the deal ministers of Culture from both countries, respectively Filipe Zau for Angola and Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin (France). The two countries also signed the deed of the donation, by Angola to the French Republic, of two masterpieces of French sculpture from XVIII century, Zephir, Flore et Amour, by Philippe Bertrand, and René Frémin and Jacques Bousseau and L'Abondance, by Lambert Sigisbert Adam. The agreement establishes the framework for the two countries to cooperate in the areas of heritage, artistic creation, cultural and creative industries and encourages the various actors to develop cooperation and exchange programmes between experts and good practices. It also aims to promote mutual knowledge of culture and history between countries, using culture as a lever to achieve a better quality of life for the respective peoples. The sculptures were located in 2018 by a specialist from Versailles, who did not know their whereabouts and who had made a thorough study of the available archives on sales involving the castle's heritage and the successive changes of owner. The Embassy of Angola will receive from the Castle of Versailles, next July, two replicas of the sculptures to replace the originals donated to France.
