Cabinda – The Portuguese construction company Mota Engil will be the main sponsor of the 2024 edition of the Cabinda Province carnival, taking place from the 11th to the 13th of February.
The provincial governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, discussed this issue with the company's management last Tuesday, within the framework of boosting and valuing national culture, particularly in this province.
The director of Mota Engil company in Cabinda, Luís Magalhães, said that the sponsorship is a way for the construction company to contribute to the appreciation of culture.
The governor appealed to all institutions operating in Cabinda to support similar initiatives, in favor of the development of the province and enhancement of culture.
She recommended the Department of Culture to mobilize more groups, such as students, to liven up this popular festival.
The provincial secretary of Culture in Cabinda, Ernesto Barros André, considered Mota Engil's initiative commendable, stressing that it will provide another dynamic for carnival groups.
Seventy-eight groups are registered for the provincial carnival parade, 47 of which are adults and 31 in the children's category. PL/OHA/CF/jmc
