Cuito - The government of the central Bie province held on Thursday a ceremony that restored the provincial literature award, after it had been suspended due to financial issues faced by the country and the region, in particular.
The provincial government approved in March this year the regulation of the award, which is divided into two classes, namely the Young literature award, which goes from 15 to 35 years old, and the Fernando Samuel Pequenino literature award, which goes from 36 years old onwards.
The first gala, after this return, will take place during the commemorations of September 17, National Heroes Day, and aims to stimulate young people in the municipalities to bet seriously on literature.
The local governor, Pereira Alfredo, assured that despite the country’s financial and economic crisis, authorities decided to restore the award , which aims to enable young people and not only to enjoy writing and reading.
The writer Mendonça Ferreira Jonatão was the winner of the 5th edition of the Youth Literature Prize of Bié province, held in 2014, with the work "O príncipe de Olinda Solela (novel style) and received a prize valued at 400,000 kwanzas.
In second place was the writer Cássia Vissumua, who competed with the poetic book "Pedaços de Mim" (Pieces of Me), receiving as a prize 300,000 kwanzas.
The writer Venâncio Vihemba, with the poetic work "Os Sonhos do Meu Eu", reached the third place being awarded 200,000 kwanzas.
