Malanje - The traditional musical group, Tunjila Tuajokota, was honored today, in this city, by businessman Bento dos Santos Kangamba, for the contribution made to the appreciation of national culture, through their songs.

Alongside the tribute, witnessed by artists, government members and other guests, the businessman offered the group 5.000.000,00 Kwanzas, five residences in Zango, in Luanda, and promised to sponsor the completion of the next album, which began to be conceived with the support from the late businessman Monteiro Kapunga.

According to Bento Kangamba, the gesture aims to dignify the group that he considered the “mascot” of the province of Malanje for everything it did in favor of the exaltation of unity, patriotism and appreciation of the Angolan cultural mosaic.

He committed to continuing to honor artists from the country's 18 provinces, having mentioned the musical group Socorro, from the province of Uíge, as one of the next ones.

In reaction, the vice-governor of Malanje for the technical sector and infrastructures, Duarte Ginga, thanked the businessman for his initiative, as it will comfort the group and galvanize it towards new projects.

On the other hand, he considered the band as “ambassadors of Malanjina culture” and highlighted its trajectory of more than two decades, marked by several musical successes that marked generations.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Tunjila Tuajokota, Tomás Bizerra Dias “Candomba Xibica”, thanked the businessman for the gesture, taking into account that the support comes at a time when they are facing several difficulties.

He appealed for more support for the group, in order to be back in the spotlight.

Without revealing the title, he announced that the next album is almost done and will feature 11 musical tracks.

Founded in 1999 in the village of Dala Kixinge, in the municipality of Cahombo, province of Malanje, the Tunjila Tuajokota group began to emerge in 2000 in Luanda, where the five members, two of whom were blind, settled after leaving their homeland due to armed conflict.

The group has four recordings in its repertoire, namely Kiaxa Kuku, Yosso Ikuma, kiokamba Kiutobessa and Kudiva.

Among his most popular songs, Nando, Americo, Amor and Ossaka stand out.
