Luanda - Several recreational and cultural activities are being held from Thursday until January 9 all over the country, ahead of National Culture Day (08 January).
The day includes musical themes, recital of poetry and awarding of merit diplomas to artists, who contribute to the development of national culture.
Presiding over the opening of the activities, the minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, underlined that the date will be commemorated in homage to the Centenary of the founder of the Nation, Agostinho Neto, celebrated in September of 2022.
He referred that the ideas of the first president of Angola, Agostinho Neto, must serve of guidelines for the development of the culture.
"The strategy of the first president of Angola, Agostinho Neto, of edification of the national culture as unit factor is basic for the development of the sector", he pointed out.
On the other hand, Filipe Zau set the construction of the Palace of Music as priority for 2023, aimed to ensure more dignity to the artists, as well as the Memorial Ngola and Teka Dia kinda.
The national culture day was founded in 1979, on the occasion of the first speech on National Culture delivered by the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, during the inauguration of the managing bodies of the Angolan Writers Association (UEA).
