Ondjiva – The writer Arsénio Satyohamba released on March 8 in southern Cunene province, a literary work entitled "Mandume the King of Oukwanyama".
The 336-page books, is an "extraordinary journey through the life and work of one of the most emblematic leaders of the struggle against colonial occupation in Africa, the author says.
According to the writer, the novel portrays real life events, which is a long narrative created with several factual texts of Mandume's life, reached through great investigation and a long period of research that lasted 12 years.
"We traveled through countries like Finland, Germany, Portugal, South Africa, Namibia, England and Angola, in the quest for data and information to put together all the traces of the history of King Mandume, because we were motivated to realize the dream," Satyohamba said.
He explained that, with this book, there is now the first literary work that portrays the historical path of Mandume, before there were books with summaries and articles, being a great gain for the academic world.
Symbol of resistance against colonial occupation, Mandume, son of Ndemufayo and Ndapona, was born in 1892, in Embulunganga, Cuanhama municipality and ascended to the throne at the age of 18.
According to the story, Mandume defended his population during his reign, between 1911 and 1917, and died on February 6, 1917 in the village of Oihole, by suicide.
Arsénio Satyohamba, aged 33, a native of Cuanhama municipality, Cunene province, is a researcher and social activist with a degree in Economic Management from London Metropolitan University.
He released his first novel entitled "TUKUBAMA TUKALA-CRÔNICAS de um Commando". In 2018.
