Luanda - Angolan minister of Culture and Tourism Filipe Zau Sunday in Luanda stressed the need to promote and boost learning for the conservation and validation of the historical, cultural and artistic heritage.
In a message ahead of the National Day of Culture, Filipe Zau states that the appropriation of knowledge must also be associated with the most appropriate strategies for the dissemination, at the international level, of initiatives aimed at greater promotion of Angolan culture, fundamentally, with different communities of the diaspora and, in addition, as a relevant support for the promotion of national and foreign tourism.
According to the official, the holding of concerts, performances and exhibitions make it possible to assess the enormous potential of cultural industries in favour of the diversification of the economy and the full exercise of national and planetary citizenship.
"For this reason, we cannot fail to recognise and pay tribute to the effort of all those who, despite the difficulties encountered, decide to embark on this work activity which is still socially devalued", reads the message of the minister.
Filipe Zau argues that cooperation between the state and civil society, in a more dialogue-based and concerted way, will make it possible to raise the low sense of self-esteem of "culture workers", working for a coherent cultural agenda, which can contribute to greater employability and, therefore, to better social support.
The National Day of Culture was instituted in 1979, on the occasion of the swearing in of the managing bodies of the Angolan Writers Association (UEA).
