Luanda – African art collector Sindika Dokolo drowned Thursday in Dubai at 48.
According to international media citing family sources, Sindika Dokolo, a DRC businessman and husband of Isabel dos Santos, daughter of former Angolan President, drowned during an apnea diving he used to practise as a hobby.
Sindika Dokolo was the major contemporary African art collector, a business he inherited from his father, a DRC banker who died in 2001.
As a businessman, he had been member of the board of the Angolan cement company “Nova Cimangola”, and shareholder of the luxury jeweller De Grisogono.
Sindika Dokolo was born in Kinshasa, the capital of now Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
