Luanda - The National Assembly (Angolan parliament)) is promoting this Wednesday, in Luanda, a workshop on Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum, with a view to a more healthy coexistence within the legislative body.
The event is an initiative of the 9th specialized commission of the National Assembly, which deals with matters of the Commission on Mandates, Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum.
In this regard, the National Assembly Speaker, Carolina Cerqueira, appealed, a few days ago, to the common sense and cordiality of the deputies in their interventions, in order not to create an environment of tension and intolerance that harms the debate and prevents the deepening of issues and the search for consensus in Parliament.
He declared that deputies must be perfectly aware that the Parliament is not a stage for vanities and much less a means that allows them to insult, slander and humiliate political opponents.
According to the Angolan Parliament head, conditions will be created to exercise responsibilities in accordance with the expectations of the Angolan electorate.
Regarding the proposed law on the institutionalization of local authorities, which entered the 2017/2022 legislature, she clarified that, due to parliamentary rules and customs, the proposals and bills that during the 2017/2022 legislature did not have a final global vote expire with the course of the legislature.
