Luanda – Angola and Turkey signed, this Tuesday, 10 cooperation agreements in several fields, as part of the two-day state visit of the Angolan President, João Lourenço, to that Eurasian country.

Agreements were signed in the areas of trade, economy, mineral resources and transport, as well as consular and diplomatic aspects.

 

The Angolan President's first day of work in Ankara began at the Ataturk Mausoleum, where he laid down a wreath of flowers and signed the book of honour.

 

For Wednesday, the last day of the visit, João Lourenço will participate in a business forum with dozens of entrepreneurs, to whom he will present Angola's economic potential and the multiple initiatives aimed at progressively improving the business environment.

 

The Angolan Head of State is accompanied by a governmental delegation that will initiate, in parallel, various contacts with the Turkish authorities, aiming to strength bilateral cooperation.

 

Diplomatic relations between Angola and Turkey date back to 1980. The two countries have cooperation agreements in the areas of trade, agriculture, education, culture, defence, justice and sport.

 

In Angola, Turkey has investments in the provinces of Luanda and Uíge, in the areas of industry, commerce, education and civil engineering.
