Mbanza Kongo - In several provinces of Angola MPLA militants have been taking to the streets this Monday (29 August) to celebrate the victory of the party and its candidate for President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in the polls, following the disclosure of the definitive results of the general elections.

The definitive results of the fifth elections, held on 24 August, were made public Monday by the National Electoral Commission (CNE). The figures confirmed the winning of the MPLA and its candidate João Lourenço with 51.17% of the votes and with this the party obtained 124 parliamentary seats.
