Ondjiva- The Vice President of the Republic, Bornito de Sousa, said this Sunday that the construction of water collection system of Cafu and associated channels is the beginning of the process to re-establish the normality of access to water for the populations and cattle in Cunene province.
The deputy president made this statement as part of a visit to the Cafu pumping station, as part of the programme of structural actions to combat drought in Cunene, which will benefit 235,000 people, 250,000 head of cattle and 15,000 hectares of irrigated field.
At the time, Bornito de Sousa said that this was a structural project that responded to one of the great needs of the population that faced cyclical drought problems, whose concern would be extended to the provinces of Huíla and Namibe.
Bornito de Sousa noted that the visit to Cafu showed great satisfaction of the traditional and administrative authorities and the population about the usefulness of this project that is ensuring access to water for irrigated agriculture and food security for livestock.
