Cuito - MPLA candidate for President of the Republic João Lourenço left Cuito, central Bié province, on Saturday afternoon back to Luanda, after having led a political event, as part of the general elections on 24 August.
Addressing a mass rally in Bié, the MPLA President highlighted, among other aspects, the degree of social and economic development of the province and other regions of the country.
João Lourenço told MPLA militants, sympathizers and friends that the peace and national reconciliation have allowed Angola's economic and social development.
In his speech, he said that in the last five years Bié has changed for the better, with notable works in the rehabilitation of roads, construction of schools, health centers and hospitals, in addition to the public lighting project, for the benefit of the local population.
When leaving the city of Cuito, at Joaquim Capango airport, the leader of the MPLA, received farewell greetings from several members and activists of this political formation.
João Lourenço arrived in Bié on Friday, from Menongue, Cuando Cubango province, where on the same day he had presided over a similar event.
In the 2017 election, MPLA managed to elect three MPs for the provincial constituency of Bié, where 783,684 voters registered to cast their ballots.
