Ondjiva - The Eighth MPLA Congress will promote the renewal of 55 percent of the members of its central bodies and continuity of 45, the party's vice president, Luísa Damião said Saturday in Cunene province.
The partisan official was speaking at a meeting with members of the ruling MPLA Municipal Committee in Cunhama that the party would increase the representation of women in management bodies at all levels to 50 percent.
In terms of the number of delegates participating in the event, scheduled for December of this year, there will also be a 50 percent balance.
According to Luisa Damião, who is on a three-day working visit to Cunene province, which began on Thursday, MPLA also wants to turn the congress into a moment of deep reflection to strengthen the party further, making it more dynamic, democratic and modern.
That is why he said the congress will serve to fine-tune the strategy with a view to the challenge of the 2022 general elections, which the party is working to win, in order to continue to fulfil the wishes of the Angolan people.
