Catumbela – Representatives of member states of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) are meeting in Catumbela, Benguela province, since Tuesday to outline strategies to fight child labour and multilateral cooperation on social protection for retirees.
The event’s spokesperson David Kingjica on Tuesday told ANGOP that cooperation on social protection opens up the possibility for Angolans working in Portugal to expatriate their contributions or receive their retirement pensions here, as well as Portuguese or expatriates of other CPLP nationalities working in Angola do the same in their countries.
The representatives are also discussing the action plan on labour inspection and other matters to be addressed at 15th meeting of CPLP Ministers of Labour taking place Thursday in the same venue.
At opening of the ceremony, the director of the CPLP executive secretariat, Manuel Lapão, said that CPLP has sought to align its agenda with the major global challenges such as the fight against child labour, elimination of forced labour, labour inspection, social protection, health and safety.
In this regard, “Angola is expected of ratifying international conventions with the International Labour Organization (ILO)", while Cape Verde will handover to Angola the coordination of labour and social matters at the end of this meeting, ANGOP learned from the organization.
The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries comprises Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.
