Luanda - The ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Angola, Jo Pyong Chol, honoured this Friday, in Luanda, the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, during a visit to the mausoleum in his memory.
The homage happened in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the visit of then leader of the MPLA to the capital of the North Korea, where he held, on the 6 of August of 1971, a meeting with the former President of this Nation, Kim Il Sung.
The occasion served for the two leaders to establish the bases that came to assure, until the days of today, the bilateral cooperation between both States.
In the facilities of the Memorial António Agostinho Neto, North Korean ambassador Jo Pyong Chol bowed before the memory of Neto and went through the premises to keep more contact with their history of life.
Speaking to ANGOP, at the end of the visit, Jo Pyong Chol referred that this date (6 of August of 1971) marked the starting point of the relations of brotherhood, friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two ruling parties, as well as the two peoples.
He added that, at the time, Kim IL Sung, "founding father of Socialist Korea, expressed his solidarity for the Angolan people's struggle for independence of the country, which still stands firm.
According to the diplomat, the relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation are developing favourably, with detailed attention from the current leaders of the two countries, respectively João Lourenço and Kim Jong-un (North Korea).
