Cuango - UNITA's presidential candidate, Adalberto Costa Júnior has pledged to create a stability and growth pact, as a legislative step for the coordination of the country's social and economic policies.
The politician, who was speaking in a mass rally in Cuango Municipality, north-eastern Lunda Norte Province, said the instrument aims to promote dialogue with the political forces and the civil society.
The UNITA leader said the elaboration of development programmes that allow the socio-economic stability of the country are also among the advantages of this policy.
The politician reiterated that he will suspend ties with his political denomination to dedicate exclusively to the presidency of the country to avoid interference from the party in his decisions as Head of State.
Adalberto Junior also promised to implement a statute for traditional authorities, so that the local power participate in the implementation of development programmes of the regions they represent.
The politician added that if his party is chosen to form the country’s government for the next five years, it will carry out deep reforms in the justice system and in the Angolan Armed Forces, "so that these bodies can actually fulfill their role".
He pledged to re-launch rice production in Lunda Norte and give priority to the rehabilitation of the National Road 230 linking the east to the coast of the country.
The expansion of polytechnic institutes, free access to education and health, environmental protection, especially in the diamond mining areas, the promotion of employment and the fight against regional asymmetries dominated the speech of UNITA's president.
The party leader's schedule in Lunda Norte ends Thursday with a rally in the Chitato Municipality.
Lunda Norte has over 200,000 voters, 704 polling stations to be staffed by 4,676 members.
Seven political parties and one coalition are running for the general elections on August 24. They are MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, PHA and P-NJANGO and the CASA-CE coalition.
Roughly 14.3 million voters are eligible to vote, including 22.560 who are residing abroad.
Overseas voting will take place in 12 countries and 25 cities, located in Africa, Europe and South America.
