Luanda – A delegation from the National Electoral Commission (CNE) has been observing, since Monday, the organisation of the electoral process in the Federative Republic of Brazil, in the scope of the general elections scheduled for 24 August this year in Angola.
According to a press release from the Embassy of Angola in Brazil, which ANGOP had access to this Tuesday, the CNE delegation had a working meeting with the ambassador Florêncio de Almeida.
The meeting that was held in Brasília aimed to analyze the current conditions for the voting process of the Angolan citizens who live in Brazil.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the CNE delegation, Maria Pascoal, revealed that an on-line training course for digitalisers is to be held soon.
The CNE delegation will also work in the next days in the Consulates General of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
The National Electoral Commission delegation, in addition to the commissioner Maria Pascoal, is made up of the national commissioner Augusta Rodrigues and the CNE director of the Legal Office, Sebastião Timóteo.
This year's elections, which will observe voting for the first time from the Angolan citizens who live abroad, are the fifth in Angola´s history, after 1992, 2008, 2012 and 2017.
There are roughly 14.39 million voters to cast their ballots, 22,560 of whom will be abroad.
The previous ballot took place on 23 August 2017, whereby the citizens chose from among six political forces, with the participation of 76.57% of the approximately 9.3 million registered voters.
MPLA won by an absolute majority, with 61% of the votes, ahead of UNITA with 26.67% and CASA-CE with 9.44%.
