Cabinda - National Police will do their best to ensure safety and a stable climate during the one-month campaign officially set to start on Sunday (24), ahead of the country’s elections scheduled for August 24, the Interior minister has said.
“We are moving the means to all the country’s provinces to ensure safety and stable environment in the elections”, Eugénio César Laborinho said Thursday in northern Cabinda province.
The provincial commands of the National Police have been requesting the population to cooperate with officers to curb actions of vandalism or indiscipline in the electoral process.
In Cabinda province, Eugénio Laborinho inaugurated a new facility of the Criminal Investigation Service's (SIC) and the Eusébio Domingos e Costa Medical Center to accommodate the police officers and civilian workers.
The campaign brings together eight contending political parties.
They are MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, P-NJANGO, PHA and CASA -CE.
Local authorities put at 14.4 million, of whom 22,560 residing in 12 foreign countries, the number of voters expected to take part in the elections of August 24.
Angola holds the fifth polls in its history, after 27 years of war.
