Luanda - The minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Media, Manuel Homem, said this Thursday that the Government is engaged in building a country where freedom of the press is a benefit for all.
Speaking in Parliament in the context of the debate on the role of the media, the minister indicated that freedom of the press must be an asset for the country to continue to follow the paths of development.
He pointed out that the session made it possible to evaluate the work that has been carried out by the media, in the consolidation of peace and democracy.
In the debate, deputies appealed to the need for continuous materialization of the principles of freedom of speech and of the press in the country.
"In fact, we’re leaving very satisfied with the mission you give us, to continue to exercise and fulfill our mission with pride," he said.
According to the minister, the mass media sector has just received a vote of confidence from Parliament to effectively continue to carry out its mission with pride.
In general, he considered the role played by the media in the country to be positive, "but we need to improve the less positive issues mentioned during the debate".
