Saurimo - The governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto, on Tuesday reaffirmed his commitment to continue working to improve the living conditions of former combatants and veterans of the homeland in the region.
The official made the statement during an informative meeting on the process of re-registration and proof of life of former combatants, stating that despite the difficulties facing the country, the government remains committed to finding better solutions to alleviate the many problems faced by pensioners.
The governor added that thanks to this re-registration carried out from 2019 to 2021, it has been possible to reduce the number of pensioners to a real one, underlining that the local government's focus is to use available resources in favor of the real beneficiaries.
Daniel Neto said local government has been working to improve the living conditions of former combatants and veterans of the homeland, as well as their children, orphans and widows, with the creation of agricultural cooperatives, access to micro-credit and compliance with the law regarding the distribution of homes in housing projects and entry into public universities.
The local authorities currently control 2,945 former combatants, three first degree war disabled, 81 second degree, 274 third degree and 34 fourth degree, as well as 105 orphans and 33 widows. QB/JW/SC/TED/AMP
