Luanda - The Angolan president, João Lourenço, arrived in Lisbon, late Sunday afternoon, where Monday (27) he will participate in the United Nations Conference on Oceans.
President João Lourenço, at this event attended by world leaders, including Heads of State and of Government or their representatives, will make a speech aiming to convey Angola's message to the world in relation to the way in which the oceans and their enormous resources are to be treated.
At the conference, which will run until 1 July, world leaders will discuss how to conserve and use, in a sustainable way, oceans, seas and marine resources for a development that does not harm the environment, nature and the planet.
In Lisbon, Angop learned from an official Portuguese source, delegates from 193 UN member states are expected (35 countries have already confirmed they are sending high-level representatives) as well as nearly a thousand entities from the political sphere, non-governmental organisations, financial and business entities, the scientific community and civil society.
On the sidelines of the event, the Angolan statesman will meet with some personalities, notably his Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres.
As part of his mission, President João Lourenço will visit the headquarters of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP).
He will also give an interview to Rádio Televisão Portuguesa (RTP).
