Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, returned to Luanda earlier Friday, to Luanda, after having witnessed the inauguration of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
At the International Airport "4 de Fevereiro", João Lourenço, accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, received a warm welcome from the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and from members of the Angolan Government .
In Brazzaville, where he arrived this morning, the Head of State witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the Congolese President, held at the Palace of Congresses, and the minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, was part of the presidential delegation.
Re-elected last March 21, for a new five-year term, Denis Sassou Nguesso beat, with 88.57 percent of the vote, six opponents, including Guy-Brice Parfait Kolélas, who died days before the elections, victim of Covid-19.
The Republic of Congo is bordered on the north by Cameroon and the Central African Republic, on the east and on the south by the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the south by the Angolan province of Cabinda and on the west by Gabon and the Atlantic Ocean.
