Luena - Moxico province registered an increase of 101 new mined areas discovered, within a year, the provincial representative of the National Agency for Mine Action (ANAM), Chile Manuel Chicanha said Wednesday in Luena.
Speaking to ANGOP on the de-mining process in the region, he said that the new areas were identified by the technical survey team in the municipalities of Moxico (provincial capital) and Alto Zambeze, raising to 345 mined areas.
He said that of the 345 areas, five had already been cleared, four are underway, whilst the remaining areas (336) are waiting to be dealt with, mainly in the municipalities of Moxico (provincial capital), Upper Zambezi, Leua, Camanongue and Bundas.
He said that the weak logistical capacity, mainly the lack of financial support, degradation of the vehicles has reduced its operability in the demining of these areas.
