Luanda - The Standing Committee of the People's Assembly of China expressed, on Friday, the intention to deepen and strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Angolan National Assembly (AN).
The statement was made by the first vice-speaker of the Chinese Parliament, Wang Chen, during a meeting held via videoconference with Angolan MPs, having pointed out the sectors of health, production and sharing of technical experience, as the areas to be prioritized in bilateral relations.
The Chinese government intends to make the vaccine against Covid-19 a global public good and help countries, particularly Angola, to overcome the pandemic, the Chinese politician said, adding that China also wants to increase the exchange in the legal area on the Rule of law, to increase learning about the legal systems of both countries.
Wang Chen mentioned that promoting exchange between the two peoples, as well as supporting cooperation in the areas of culture, education and tourism are other priorities for Angola/China cooperation.
The Chinese politician pointed out the improvement in the relationship between the two countries, in recent years, with the record of the deepening of political trust, economic cooperation, exchange, among peoples.
Chen stressed that despite the difficulties imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Angola/China cooperation remains strong and with permanent consultations by means of videoconference, telephone connection and exchange of official letters, which have facilitated communication between both countries.
He considered Angola an important trading partner and main investment destination of China in Africa, with advantageous cooperation between both countries.
The Chinese politician said he would continue to encourage Chinese companies to work in Angola, to help the process of industrialization and national economic diversification.
According to Wang Chen, China will support Angola to play greater roles of huge responsibility in regional and international bodies, as well as helping to strengthen relations with international organizations.
In his turn, the first vice-speaker of the (AN), Emília Dias, considered China a strategic partner for Angola, and bilateral cooperation between the two governments is based on the general agreement signed in 2008.
Emilia Dias called on international leaders to make the vaccine against Covid-19 a heritage of humanity, so that all citizens can benefit from such medicine, having called for the support of the Chinese government to make this objective possible.
The Angolan MP also defended the need for the parliaments of Angola and China to be the catalysts of relations between the two states.
