Muxima Shrine
The modernisation of the Muxima Sanctuary was undertaken by the Angolan State.
Currently a national monument, the Church of Nossa Senhora da Muxima is maintained and preserved under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture of Angola, although it belongs to the Catholic Church.
There are other sanctuaries in Angola, but that of Muxima, located 130 kilometers from Luanda (on the left bank of the Kwanza River), is the one that brings together the most Catholics. It is a devotion that dates back to the year 1833.
The future Basilica will be in front of the old chapel, built in 1645 and dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição.
