President approves additional credit for public cleaning in Luanda

Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, approved the opening of an additional supplementary credit for the payment of expenses related to the provision of public cleaning and solid waste collection services in the province of Luanda.

According to a presidential decree, published in State Gazette , it is a disbursement of 27.9 billion kwanzas. 

 

This amount must be allocated in stages, depending on the payment needs and after all funds initially allocated have been exhausted. 

 

"The supplementary additional credit is allocated to the Budgetary Unit of the Government of the Province of Luanda", indicates Presidential Decree No. 46/21 of 23 February, published in the State Gazette. 

 

In another presidential decree, also published in the Official Gazette, the Angolan Head of State approved an expense of 34.8 billion kwanzas for the purchase of public cleaning services and solid waste collection. 

 

According to the presidential decree, the province of Luanda is "without any operator hired for the respective service and has seen an increase in the amount of garbage on public roads since the beginning of the current year". 

 

Public health care 

 

"The termination of public cleaning service and solid waste collection contracts can cause serious public health problems, occurrence of other endemic and pandemic outbreaks", warns the order signed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço. 

 

To reverse this situation, the head of the Government decreed the opening of the Emergency Contracting Procedure, in order to avoid increasing the negative effects on the situation of public calamity.

 

The Emergency Contracting Procedure is divided into several batches, to provide public cleaning and solid waste collection services in the municipalities of Luanda, Icolo and Bengo, Quiçama, Cacuaco, Cazenga, Viana, Belas, Kilamba Kiaxi and Talatona.
