President gathers with members of civil society

Caxito - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held on Thursday in Caxito, Bengo province, separate meetings with members of the civil society, with whom he addressed social and economic issues affecting the region.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, Carlos Gomes, a businessman representing civil society in Bengo province, said that the occasion served to talk about the problems they face in terms of local industrial development.

He explained that the suggestions presented to the Chief of Executive were taken into consideration and will have immediate solutions.

For her part, the Reverend Lurdes de Almeida, of the Methodist Church, presented some concerns, with emphasis on issues related to the lack of public transport and the rehabilitation of roads.

The Prince of the Dembos municipality (traditional authority), António Salvador, referred to the willingness of President João Lourenço to help overcome some situations affecting the communities, especially those related to the distribution of drinking water, health and education, which concern the populations of Nambuangongo, Dembos, Pango Aluquém and Bula Tumba.

Also received by the Head of State, the representative of the Provincial Youth Council, Amaro Jorge, exposed issues related to training, housing and employment, which currently afflict the young people of the province.

The President of the Republic, who is accompanied by several members of the Governmet, has been on a two-day working visit to the neighbouring province of Bengo since Thursday morning.

On Friday, before returning to Luanda, Lourenço will chair a meeting of the Council of Local Governance.

The Council of Local Governance is an organ that assists the President of the Republic in the formulation and monitoring of the execution of governance policies of the State Administration at local level.
