Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, on Friday, in Luanda, defended that the world must continue to create favorable conditions for the active participation of women in all areas of life, namely family, social, political, business, cultural and sporting.

According to President’s message o International Women's Day celebrate on March 8th, “despite female empowerment being a reality, women are still the target of prejudices that try to diminish them, hence the need to demand and affirm their rights to be respected and to act equitably in the society”.

In the document, he saluted women, especially Angolan women, who from an early age were committed to all these fronts, from the heroic phase of the National Liberation Struggle, through the period of resistance to armed aggression and the socio-economic reconstruction of the country.

“Today we see Angolan women carrying out the most different tasks with zeal, assuming the most varied positions with competence and a sense of responsibility, demonstrating their talent in multiple areas of our life in society,” it reads.

The President highlighted that “all these gains and advances in no way reduced the women ability to manage a home and domestic life, to educate children, to extend a helping hand to those in need”

According to the message, João Lourenço hopes that women throughout the world can overcome the barriers that still weigh on them and that the movement towards their emancipation and dignity is unstoppable.

By wishing 'Happy International Women's Day', the President of the Republic pays a simple tribute to all the women in the world who help build the present and keep alive the hope of better days for all humanity. VIC/ADR/DOJ
