Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço on Monday received and bid farewell to the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Giovanni Gaspari, who ended his mission in Angola.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the religious leader said he was grateful for the collaboration and welcome, as well as the strong expression of friendship and solidarity from the Angolans.
The Catholic missionary now appointed Apostolic Nuncio to South Korea and Mongolia by Pope Francis, said that relations between Angola and the Vatican have improved considerably since the signing of the framework agreement in 2019.
Asked about a possible visit by Pope Francis to Angola, the Catholic Church representative said there was no confirmation.
Giovanni Gaspari, was born in 1963 in Pescara, Italy, and has been a priest since 1987. He has a degree in Canon Law, as well as in Moral Theology.
