Caxito - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, visited this Saturday the works of Bengo General Hospital and Caxito satellite city, which are being built in Bucula locality, about 5 kilometres from the provincial seat.
During the visit, the Head of State was informed of the progress of the two construction works, and the Bengo General Hospital, with capacity for 200 beds, will include several services, especially general medicine, paediatrics, hemodialysis and surgery.
ANGOP observed that the works, which started in August 2021, with a deadline of conclusion of 18 months, under the responsibility of the construction company Promed, are progressing at a good pace, around 60 percent, with the concrete structure concluded, as well as masonry.
For the construction, President João Lourenço authorised expenditure of an estimated total of US$63.1 million and formalised the opening of the Simplified Contracting procedure under the material criteria for public works contracts.
The province's health network is made up of six municipal hospitals, two general hospitals, 22 health centres, a mother-child centre and 73 health posts.
Bengo province has 105 internal specialist doctors, 26 expatriate specialist doctors, 29 national specialist doctors, 1,477 nurses, 398 diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, 158 general practitioners and 237 hospital support technicians, making a total of 2,430 health technicians.
Caxito satellite city
The physical progress of the first phase of the Caxito Satellite city, in Bucula, which started in February this year, is over 60 percent.
The project will have a total of 1,000 houses, of which 946 will be flats, 30 villas and 72 shops.
It includes three-bedroom, four-storey buildings, primary and secondary schools, a health post, a kindergarten, a children's centre and a sports facility.
According to the Minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, the first homes in Bucula, in Bengo province, will start being delivered this July to the running candidates.
