Luanda – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, left this Thursday for Caxito City, in northern Bengo Province, where he will work for the next two days, with his working agenda including a meeting with the Local Governance Council.
According to the secretary for Institutional Communication and Press Affairs of the President of the Republic, Luís Fernando, João Lourenço will also visit some projects, such as agricultural farms and a construction materials factory.
Luis Fernando said that the Head of State will assesses the level of execution of the integrated infrastructure works in Caxito city, as well as hold meeting with the traditional and religious authorities and representatives of businesspersons and youth.
President João Lourenço's working visit ends on Friday, with his return to Luanda in the afternoon.
Local Governance Council
The Local Governance Council is a body that assists the President of the Republic in formulating and following up the implementation of government administration policies at the local level.
Among its functions are the assessment of the budget proposals of the provincial governments, the monitoring of the process of implementation of local authorities and the execution of policies to combat regional asymmetries.
It also allows suggestions for measures to modernize and simplify Local Administration procedures.
The President of the Republic is assisted by the Vice President. The Council comprises 42 entities, including 18 provincial governors, ministers and three secretaries of the President of the Republic.
Some secretaries of State, the secretary of the Council of Ministers and invited entities also participate in the sessions of this body.
