Luanda – President João Lourenço returned home Friday evening from Gabon, where he attended the 18th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African State (ECCAS).
On arrival at Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Head of State was welcomed by the Vice-President, Bornito de Sousa, and the capital’s governor, Joana Lina.
Government officials and members of his office were also at the airport to welcome the President who remained a few hours in the Gabonese capital, Libreville.
While in Gabon, the Angolan Head of State witnessed the transfer of the ECCAS leadership, from host Ali Bongo to his Congo counterpart, Dennis Sassou Nguessou.
The Summit discussed the contribution of the member states, the organisation’s budget for 2021 and the report on the activity of the ECCAS Commission, a body led by Angolan Gilberto Veríssimo.
