Ndalatando - The new first MPLA's provincial secretary in Cuanza-Norte, João Diogo Gaspar, defended greater attention and protection to the party's women's and youth organizations, giving them more support and responsibilities.
According to the party leader, who was speaking on Saturday, shortly after his election, the Angolan Women's Organization (OMA) should be the greatest interpreter and spokesperson for women.
He highlighted that OMA must continue alongside women and teen girls, live their problems and be present “wherever there is a cry (for help) from a woman”.
João Diogo Gaspar also wants a more active, creative and innovative JMPLA, inserted in all segments of youth, in higher and secondary education institutions, in liberal professions, in commerce and to be a leader of youth initiatives.
He called on all party members to work with civil society organizations, including professional orders or other recognized associations, to together contribute to the growth and development of the province and the country.
João Diogo Gaspar was elected 1st MPLA provincial secretary in Cuanza- Norte, during the party's II Extraordinary Provincial Conference in the province, with 418 votes in favor, corresponding to 97% of valid votes.
At the event, 437 delegates were present out of the 601 initially planned, corresponding to a participation of 72%. EFM/IMA/IZ/CF/DOJ
