Luanda - The Ombuds Office and the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra signed a cooperation protocol Thursday for the training of Angolan staff at the Portuguese academic institution.

According to a note ANGOP has had access to, the protocol was signed by the Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, and the director of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, Jonatas Machado.

At the time, the director of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra welcomed the signing of the agreement, emphasising its importance for the training of Angolan staff.

"I want to express my satisfaction wit the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Angolan Ombuds Office and I hope that this protocol goes from paper to work and is really feasible, because it is an honour to facilitate the opening up of the training of Angolan staff at the academic institution that I direct", he said.

On the occasion, he explained that the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra not only works with human rights, but also with all aspects of law, which is why he hopes for future achievements in this area.

In turn, Florbela Araújo thanked the Portuguese academic institution for its support, emphasising that it would be of great benefit to Angolans, not only in the area of human rights, but in all branches of law.

According to a visit work programme in that European country, on Friday in Lisbon she will participate in the handover ceremony of the network of ombuds and national human rights commissions of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) to take place on the premises of the Portuguese Ombuds Office, in a hybrid format.
