Luanda - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, returned to the country's capital on Friday afternoon from Lunda Sul province.
At the military air base in Luanda, Joao Lourenço received greetings from the speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and members of the Angolan Government.
In the city of Saurimo, the Angolan head of state inaugurated the Diamond Development Pole, an initial investment of around USD 77 million.
With an area of over 300,000 square metres, the hub has commercial and industrial areas.
The commercial area constitutes the nucleus of public access with shops, restaurants, a food court, banks, tax offices, offices, a convention centre, a technical professional school, a medical post and accommodation buildings.
The industrial area is made up of 26 lots of different sizes, intended for the establishment of a diamond cutting training centre, cutting factories and diamond industry.
On Thursday, President Joao Lourenço worked in the neighbouring province of Lunda Norte, where he led a meeting with the provincial government in the city of Dundo.
On the same day, the Angolan statesman visited the Luachimo Hydropower Complex and received in separate audiences several civil society figures, businessmen and youth representatives.
