Luanda – Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs Téte António arrived Monday in Kinshasa to attend the meeting of the top diplomats from the signatory countries of Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework Agreement for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
This was confirmed in press release from Angola’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating that Téte António was welcomed by Angolan ambassador to DRC, Miguel Costa, along with the diplomatic representative of Angola to Kenya, Sianga Abílio.
The meeting of ministers of Foreign Affairs precedes the 10th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the signatory countries of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework Agreement for the DRC, scheduled Thursday (24).
The event will discuss the progress made in the field of the implementation of the Framework Agreement.
Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Félix Tshisekedi will take over the one-year leadership of the Regional Oversight Mechanism of the Framework Agreement for Peace, replacing Ugandan Head of State Yoweri Museveni.
Angola is attending the Summit in a dual condition as signatory country of the Framework Agreement and as Chairperson of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
The Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the DRC and the Region was signed on 24 February, 2013 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
Signed the agreement Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Central African Republic, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Institutions such as the United Nations, African Union, SADC, ICGLR, European Union, as well as Belgium, US, France and UK also signed the agreement.
