  • Covid-19: Mass vaccination reaches 395,447 citizens in Angola
Luanda - The health authorities announced, on Monday in Luanda, the vaccination of 395,447 citizens up to the present date.

The vaccination process that started on March 2, in a first phase, includes health professionals, teachers from all levels of education, elderly people over 65, staff from the Defence and Security organs, patients with sickle-cell disease and chronic renal failure over 18 years of age.

 

Health authorities expect to vaccinate 54% of the population, a total of 16,823,284 individuals over the age of 16.

 

So far, the country has received 824,000 doses of vaccine.

 

The vaccination campaign takes place in the provinces of Luanda, Cabinda, Benguela, Bengo, Huambo, Huíla, Cuanza Norte, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul, Cunene, Malanje, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte, Namibe, Moxico.

 

Angola expects to receive, by the end of this month 20,000,000 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 from Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Sputnik.

 

It is a batch of 12 million doses of the Sputnik vaccine, to immunize six million people, more than four million are from Johnson & Johnson and more than one million from Pfizer.

 

The general picture of Angola totals 24,518 positive cases, with 563 deaths, 22,600 recovered and 1,355 active.

 

Of the current diseased, seven are in critical condition, 13 severe, 68 moderate, 48 with mild symptoms and 1,219 asymptomatic.
