Luanda - The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, this Saturday in Luanda praised the measures adopted by Angola to prevent and combat Covid-19.
Speaking to the press after a visit to the Paz Flor high performance vaccination centre, the Portuguese Head of State said the Angolan government's measure to apply restrictions and protect the borders with countries of the region against the circulation of the new variant of Covid-19 was positive.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa considers positive the measures adopted by Angola for the vaccination of the population, even though it is better than many countries in Africa and in the world.
According to the statesman, the prevention against Covid-19 consists, among other measures, in the vaccination of the population and Angola is following this path.
He said that Portugal is honoured to support Angola in the fight against Covid-19, with approximately 920,000 Astrazeneca vaccine doses, and that the goal is to reach 1.8 million doses.
He appealed to the Angolan population to go to the vaccination posts.
In relation to Angola's presidency of the CPLP, he said it was positive, despite being at the beginning of the mandate, pointing to the fact that the mobility agreement, among others, had been ratified.
In his turn, the Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the Presidency, Francisco Furtado, said that Angola currently had over five million people who had not received the second dose of the vaccine.
