Luanda - Since Tuesday, the Republic of Cuba has required passengers travelling from Angola and Brazil to that country to present an international yellow fever vaccination certificate.
According to a press release from the Angolan Embassy in that Caribbean country, the recommendation is the result of the update of the health measures in force in Cuba, made last Monday by the Ministry of Health, and covers passengers coming from areas with yellow fever transmission.
However, it rules out the presentation of a negative Covid-19 test, as well as a certificate of vaccination against the disease.
According to the note, on arrival in the Cuban archipelago, only travellers with respiratory symptoms will be tested for Covid-19 or have a sample taken for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.
As part of the measures, it requires Cubans and foreigners living in the country to report to their family doctor or the epidemiology department of the health centre or polyclinic where they live within 24 hours of arriving in the country, for the appropriate checks.
It emphasises that everyone must comply with the instructions and recommendations of their family doctor and nurse, as well as to be alert to any signs of illness until at least 90 days after their return.
It is claimed that abroad, these citizens are exposed to contracting diseases that are not present or controlled in Cuba and others that exist on the island, but in a different epidemiological, climatological and social context.
