Cabinda- The Minister of Health, Silvia Lutucuta, said Thursday that the start of operation of the new Cabinda General Hospital was a pillar of strengthening the country's National Health Service, serving the entire local community and that of neighbouring countries.
The hospital will have capacity for 200 beds, for the benefit not only of the population of Cabinda, but of Angola and beyond, in terms of modernisation and quality of healthcare.
The Cabinet minister said that this is a hospital facility, which, due to its characteristics and features, is another example of the process of strengthening the National Health Service, contributing to health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, research, training of staff and promoting a reduction of inequalities in citizens' access to quality and humane healthcare.
She said that the Government is also committed to staff training and scientific research.
"We are creating synergy with similar institutions of the private public sector with high competence, which provide quality and humanized health services, so that the sharing of knowledge is a fact, in order to continue building a health system capable of solving the needs of our population," she stressed.
Cabinda General Hospital, inaugurated Thursday by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in terms of human resources, already has 771 professionals of the 1250 provided for, of which 95 doctors, 42 are specialists and 53 interns, 502 nurses, 98 diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, 60 hospital support technicians and 16 from the general regime.
