Malanje - One hundred and forty health technicians from the Malanje General Hospital, including doctors, nurses and diagnostic and therapeutic specialists, began training today on legislation applicable to the health sector.
Lasting two days, the initiative is part of the unit's training plan and aims to improve the performance of its staff.
During the event, subjects related to civil and criminal liability for medical errors under Angolan law, the legal implications of theft of medicines, humanisation in health services, rights, guarantees and duties of professionals, as well as, the schedule, leave and absence regime, professional ethics and deontology and the disciplinary regime for civil servants and administrative agents.
Speaking at the opening of the course, the acting director of the Provincial Health Office, Manuel Monteiro, stressed the importance of investing in the training of health staff, so that they can be familiarised with the rules governing the functioning of the sector.
He emphasised that most of the mistakes made by medical professionals are the result of a lack of knowledge, which is why training is crucial in order to avoid this situation and improve patient care.
In turn, the director of Malanje's General Hospital, Elsa Fortes, reiterated the ongoing training of staff, with a view to correct negative procedures and to provide more humanized attendance.
This the second health training that the hospital unit holds this year, with the first one held in February focused on the theme of hospital humanisation.
