Caxito - Bengo province is open to proposals for the construction of small, medium and large hotels and resorts without bureaucracy, the local governor Maria Antónia Nelumba said Friday.
The governor, who was speaking at the opening of Bengo's 2nd socio-economic forum, said the province will be diligent in approving projects, as long as all the legal requirements are met.
According to the governor, the aim is for the infrastructure to be built to take into account the province's rural and scenic characteristics and, if possible, to use material that is relevant not only to safeguarding local cultural standards, but also those of modern grandeur typical of developing cities.
"Bengo province definitely wants to be on the road to promoting and developing tourism. Our aim is to create a culture of tourism, in the hope of maximizing the enormous potential that exists and which, we recognize, has not yet been exploited," the governor said.
The 2nd Bengo Socio-Economic Forum is being held under the slogan "Bengo on the road to tourism development", as part of the province's 44th anniversary festivities
Basic premises for the development of tourism, the importance of tourist activity in diversifying the economy and the role of banking in fostering tourism are the themes being addressed at the forum. CJ/IF/TED/AMP
