Talatona - Over 100,000 residential homes and 2,000 kilometres of roads have been built by Chinese companies operating in Angola, over the 40 years of cooperation in the public works and urbanisation sector, the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, said Wednesday.

Within the framework of these partnerships, 2,800 kilometres of railroad, 100 schools, 50 hospitals and other infrastructures have also been built.

Speaking Wednesday, in Luanda, at the celebration ceremony of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Angola, the Chinese ambassador disclosed that this includes concluded and underway construction works, such as the Caculo Cabaça dam, Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport, Kilamba power station, Benguela Railroad, the Soyo thermal power station, amongst others.

The ambassador added that the investments made by Chinese companies in Angola have contributed to the diversification and industrialisation of the economy.

The Chinese ambassador also highlighted the exchanges in military technology and professional training between the two countries, underlining that to date his country has been Angola's biggest trading partner, with a large export market that made it an important source of investment.

To the ambassador, over the last 40 years an example of friendship between China and Africa has been established.

According to him, China has actively supported Angola's development and provided assistance, via donation projects and training in trade, agriculture, health, media and politics.

Another area in which China is active, according to the ambassador, is the health sector, sending five Chinese medical teams made up of 70 professionals, which have treated over 400,000 Angolan patients.

Hundreds of scholarships have also been provided for Angolan students.

Angola and China established diplomatic relations on January 12, 1983, opening a new chapter in the history of the traditional friendship between the two countries.

In these 40 years, regardless of the changes in the international and domestic situations, China and Angola have always been united in their mutual assistance, achieving important results in several domains.
